The Tampa Area Marine Parents Association along with the American Legion Post #5 joined together to make this a very special Christmas for the veterans of our community and the military cemetery located on the legion hall property. Together we raised the funds to purchase wreaths to cover the nearly 800 sites located at the cemetery. What a truly awesome transformation of this cemetery which is too often forgotten in the hustle and bustle of our community. We are hoping this project brought much needed awareness not only to the cemetery but to the community on how we should always honor and remember those who have given so much.
Wreaths Across America™ (www.wreathsacrossamerica.com) was born in 2006 out of a desire to honor and respect American servicemen and woman for their significant contributions in preserving our Nation’s freedoms. Originally started over fifteen years ago by Morrill Worcester and Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington Maine, it has become an annual tradition to lay Christmas wreaths at the grave-markers of our fallen veterans during the holidays, as a way to express appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.
